New Campus Glasgow is a visionary project to create an inspiring, flexible learning environment for City of Glasgow College. It will be home to around 1,200 staff and 40,000 students and will become the new heart of the city’s thriving learning quarter.

The project is founded on solid business drivers and educational benefits. The current estate is unfit for purpose. Dispersed, inflexible, and costly to maintain it doesn’t provide the learning environment essential to achieve the College’s vision. A new shared campus means better value for public money. We will replace inefficient accommodation with inspirational learning environments to meet the current and future needs of learners.

To deliver a project as complex as this, we have a robust set of principles guiding our development:

The three merged colleges are Central, Metropolitan and Nautical. The City of Glasgow College represents 10% of Scotland’s further education learning community and the merger will further enhance the reputation of the College and Glasgow.

The new college will be located across two campuses. The City Campus at Cathedral Street – existing home to Central and Metropolitan Colleges – and the Riverside Campus – current home of the Nautical College – at Thistle Street.

These are just a few of the milestones in the New Campus Glasgow project.

• Develop outline design from Febuary 2010
• Marine Skills Centre completed April 2010
• Development Framework Planning Consent April 2010
• Complete Stage C+ September 2010

The future programme is being developed to reflect the change in procurement strategy and the use of the NPD financing and delivery strategy.
