communications team in place for glasgow supercampus project
5 Oct 2008
New Campus Glasgow Ltd - the company set up to deliver one of Europe's most ambitious education projects - has appointed a range of communications specialists to support the development.
The eight year project will deliver a multi-million pound world class learning facility for the 50,000 students and 2,000 staff of Glasgow's four specialist city centre colleges: Central College, Metropolitan College, Stow College and Glasgow College of Nautical Studies.
All four will co-locate on a shared campus over 2 sites, City Campus at Cathedral Street, home of Central and Metropolitan Colleges and Riverside Campus at Thistle Street, site of the Nautical College.
"Successfully bringing these four colleges together will present some interesting and challenging communications issues in the years to come so I'm delighted to be able to bring on board such a range of talent to support us," said New Campus Glasgow's Director of Communications, Barbara Chalmers.
"This will be one of the biggest development projects in Scotland over the next decade and although it is still early days for the project our message development needs to start now. Brand development, website, media and stakeholder relations, and developing print collateral are top of the to-do list for the team."
Glasgow's 55 degrees will support developing the digital communications strategy and are currently at work on a new website for the project. New Campus will also be using 55 degrees' innovative Voxur consultation system to capture vox pops as digital content that can be used in presentations and on the web to share the views of the many stakeholder groups from current students to local residents, staff to school children - students of the future when the new campus project completes.
"With such a long term project we were looking at innovative ways of recording progress and getting people's views. It gives us scope to really develop our website into a resource everyone with a stake in this project can use to share knowledge as it develops," said Barbara.
Aberdour based MS Creative have the design for print brief for the project with copywriting for online and offline communication coming from Edinburgh's Henzteeth.
Glasgow based Cowbrough Communications is supporting the project's media and wider public relations.
The project timeline for New Campus Glasgow is currently being developed with a detailed business case scheduled to be unveiled before the year end and submitted to the Scottish Funding Council in March 09.
