New Campus Glasgow is implementing a Green Travel Plan as part of our commitment to going green. A Green Travel Plan is an integrated set of measures designed to promote and improve accessibility to the sites by public transport, bike and pedestrian access.
The Colleges are currently well catered for in terms of car parking, but the new development will need to fall in line with Council guidelines for city centre parking. This will mean far fewer spaces and increased reliance on other forms of transport. This is where the Green Travel Plan can help. The potential solutions could include car-sharing schemes, cycle to work schemes, new bus services and inter-campus buses.
At the moment, we are gathering and analysing the travel patterns of staff and students. This will give us the baseline information we need to develop the right set of measures and improvements.
